Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Investigative Operations Division, Operations Support Division and or Veritas Program located in Washington D.C.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Directing, implementing, and overseeing major mission or administrative programs.

Conducting complex studies using qualitative and quantitative methods, such as statistical analysis and business intelligence tools, to assess and improve program effectiveness.

Providing technical assistance and direct support to headquarters and field office management staff in all matters relating to hiring, logistics, and case management systems to meet mission requirements.

Managing projects by developing project plans, coordinating cross-functional teams, and leading organizational change initiatives.

Developing, implementing, and monitoring sophisticated management information systems to support both short- and long-term planning, resource allocation, and policy development.

You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/17/2026.

Background Investigation: U.S.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible.

To be considered well qualified under CTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. Major Duties:

Managing projects by developing project plans and coordinating with various groups through briefings, presentations, and conferences on behalf of executive management Planning leading, and organizing team projects, and effectively negotiating with management to implement recommendations, even when they require significant resources, major changes, or may face resistance Reviewing new or proposed laws, executive orders, and agency directives to assess their impact on headquarters and field operations, identifying needed changes to processes or procedures.
