Job Description

Summary

This job involves advising managers at a U.S. Army base's public works department on improving operations, analyzing programs for efficiency, and creating plans to make things run smoother.

It's based at Fort Campbell on the Kentucky-Tennessee border, near Nashville.

About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Campbell, KY.

Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN about 45 miles NW of Nashville.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and operations such as but not limited to contracts, performance studies, work execution and work improvement initiatives; 2) Performing quantitative analysis and performance analysis; 3) Developing new methods, approaches, or procedures to support program objectives; and 4) Improving efficiency of administrative support or program operations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Provide management advisory services to Directorate of Public Works management.
  • Conduct research to gauge overall state of Directorate of Public Works.
  • Develop improvement plans to increase efficiencies within program.
  • Review current initiatives to evaluate impact on program.
