Summary

This job is for a maintenance worker at a lodging facility on a U.S.

Air Force base in Okinawa, Japan, where you'll handle simple repairs like fixing plumbing, painting, and electronics in guest rooms and common areas.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Shogun Inn, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Who May Apply: Open to those with SOFA Sponsorship only.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must be able to perform basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs as described in the duties and responsibilities.

Must be able to operate and maintain hand and power tools. Must be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.

Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally heavier items. Must be able to frequently walk, bend, stoop, and work in awkward positions.

Must be willing to climb ladders. Must have a valid drivers license. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

This is a drug testing designated position, the incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Major Duties:

Repairs minor Lodging assets to include furnishing, window treatments, wall art, carpet, telephones, electronics, electronic keys, etc.

Makes simple plumbing, carpentry painting and electrical repairs such as, but not limited to unclogging sinks and basins, showers, tubs, and toilets.

Reports pipes and fixture replacements to CE and submits work orders. Repairs, replaces, or paints (touch-up) doors, windows, screens, cabinets, counters, shelves, and flooring.

Patches holes and prepares surfaces, as necessary. Repairs, replaces, or reprograms electronic door locks and room signage.

Submits work orders for maintenance or routine repairs on air conditioners, light fixtures, electrical outlets, and appliances.

Performs minor repairs on vacuum cleaners, dehumidifiers, and small appliances, Assists with more complex or difficult tasks under close supervision of work leader or supervisor.

Moves equipment and furniture. Operates a general-purpose vehicle in performance duties.

Complies with motor vehicle operator requirements, cleans and maintains vehicles, ensures vehicles are turned in for scheduled routine maintenance, adheres to safety instructions.
