Full Job Description

You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER LEADER in the NUCLEAR FACILITIES AND SUPPORT SHOP OF THE PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT (CODE 900) of PSNS and IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will assist the supervisor by passing along instructions to other workers on the crew.
  • You will ensure that work permits, system tag outs, work instructions, drawings, material, and special tooling are on the job site when needed.
  • You will resolve problems and accomplish routine inspection of work in progress and audit completed work for compliance with appropriate work procedures.
  • You will determine progress and status of work, estimate completion of work, and inform the immediate supervisor.
  • You will ensure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed, coordinate the work of co-workers and assist trades to assure that event schedules are met.
  • You will be responsible for providing on-the-job training to co-workers with less experience, evaluates the work done by these lesser skilled employees.
  • You will be responsible for planning and arranging for proper and safe operations, ensuring that materials, tools, and component parts are safe as well as proper for the particular assignment.
