Building Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance Mechanic 2)
Camp Murray, WA
The Washington Military Department has an exciting opportunity to join the State Maintenance and Support Services (SMSS) branch within the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO) as a journey-level maintenance mechanic. Reporting to the Maintenance Mechanic 4 for the West Region of the SMSS branch, the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that CFMO-related building systems, equipment, and infrastructure are properly maintained and operating efficiently.
This is a civilian position and does not require military service affiliation.

Requirements
Responsibilities include:Journey-level work in the completion of assigned repair, restoration, and replacement efforts.- Maintenance and repair efforts via work orders as assigned.
Journey-level work in the completion of assigned non-repair efforts.- Non-repair and non-maintenance efforts via work orders as requested by customers (e.g., whiteboards, moving furniture, inspecting facilities, etc.).
Journey-level work in the completion of assigned preventative maintenance efforts.- Preventative maintenance assignments for mechanical, electrical and/or structural items.
Assists grounds and custodial crews as assigned. - Perform grounds efforts (e.g., mowing, edging, and pruning).
- Perform custodial efforts (e.g., cleaning and trash removal).
- Perform snow removal and/or debris removal efforts.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSTwo years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 1;
OR- High school diploma or GED; AND
- Three years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, and/or building repair work.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of:- Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building and maintenance work.
- Occupational hazards and work safety requirements/programs.
Skills, Abilities, and Competencies to:- Perform journey level work in all types of building maintenance.
- Read plans and blueprints.
- Effectively layout and perform all types of building maintenance and construction installation, alteration, and repairs.
- Perform basic grounds and custodial services.
- Utilizing Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- The ability to take action to learn and grow.
- The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.
Additional Information
Compensation: Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background Investigation: Must successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain/maintain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) in order to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment. Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.

Driver's License:
- Valid to drive in the State of Washington.
- Must meet requirements of the REAL ID Act. This is required for base access and will be required upon hire.
Military Facility:
Willingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation.
Camp Murray utilizes the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements / background check which can be found in the
Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18-01). This includes possession of an Enhanced Driver’s License, or other REAL ID Compliant Identification.
Work Hours:
A choice between Friday through Monday (4/10 schedule), Thursday through Sunday (4/10 schedule), or Saturday through Tuesday (4/10 schedule). Actual hours will start no earlier than 6:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm and will include core business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Telework:
This position is not eligible for telework.
Emergency Assignment:
Upon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.
Travel:
Occasional statewide travel may be required up to 5% to include overnight stays.
