Requirements

In this position, you will perform skilled carpentry work to repair, maintain, and improve buildings and related structures, including floors, walls, roofs, doors, windows, and fixtures.

You will read and follow blueprints and plans, operate power tools and woodworking machinery, install and finish drywall, and complete renovation projects.

Responsibilities include painting interior and exterior surfaces, handling basic plumbing tasks such as installing and maintaining water and waste lines, and ensuring systems are clear and working properly.

In addition, you will operate equipment such as Bobcat, ToolCat, and skid-steer vehicles. All work must follow DMVA safety guidelines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.


Additional Requirements:
  • You must maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Formal training in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as it relates to repair of buildings
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
