Full Job Description

These positions are located in National Mall and Memorial Parks and will perform complex installation, maintenance and repair of equipment and historic buildings.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is March to December but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: March To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, and repair, etc.

Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of measuring instruments Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.

The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic (seasonal) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Serve as a Maintenance Mechanic performing difficult installation, maintenance and repair of equipment and historic buildings.

Perform and oversee a variety of routine preventative maintenance inspections for carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical work.

Perform repairs related to carpentry, plumbing and painting, with the ability to perform minor electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs.

Install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler system, and showers, and lay out of such things as angles, arcs, and circles.

Install, overhaul, repair, clean, test, troubleshoot, calibrate, upgrade and modify, electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment, circuits and components related to historic buildings.
