Full Job Description

This position is located in National Capital Parks-East, in the Maintenance Program.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for National Capital Parks-East is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: End of April Open to the first 100 applicants or until 01/30/2026 whichever comes first.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.

Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.

The major duties of the Maintenance Worker include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs simple and routine maintenance of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, trails and equipment and related facilities.

Performs simple carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs. Safely operates various groundskeeping equipment including mowers, string trimmer, hedge trimmers, pole saws, hand tools etc.

Picks up trash, refuse and clears dumping sites as needed, climb in and out of trash truck to empty trash cans.
