Job Description

Summary

This job is for a maintenance mechanic at the Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu, where you'll inspect buildings and equipment, figure out what repairs are needed, and fix things using skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in building maintenance who enjoys working with tools and vehicles in a hotel setting.

Key Requirements

  • Intermediate experience in carpentry and plumbing techniques
  • Intermediate skills in mechanical, electrical, and painting trades
  • Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools including saws, hammers, files, augers, shovels, paint brushes, spray guns, torque wrenches, feeler gauges, planes, skill saws, radial arm saws, band saws, chain saws, joiners, electric sanders, pantographs, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and fuse testers
  • Ability to perform visual inspections of fixtures, buildings, and surrounding areas to assess repair needs
  • Skill in estimating materials and equipment for repairs
  • Valid/current driver's license (or ability to obtain and maintain one)
  • Experience operating motor vehicles and industrial equipment for maintenance tasks

Full Job Description

Serves as a Maintenance Mechanic in the Engineering Department of the Hale Koa Hotel. This announcement is open to current Hale Koa Hotel employees only. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities (KSAs) as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1.

Possess intermediate level experience using carpentry and plumbing techniques, and at intermediate level techniques in mechanical, electrical and painting. 2.

Possess intermediate level experience in the use a variety of tools such as saws, hammers, metal and wood files, augers, shovels, paint brushes, spray guns, torque wrenches, feeler gages, planes, skill saws, radial arm saw, band saws, chain saws, joiners, electric sanders, pantographs, voltmeter, ohmmeter, fuse tester.

3. Possess or have the ability to acquire and able to maintain a valid/current driver's license Major Duties:

Serves as Maintenance Mechanic providing maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.

Makes visual inspections of fixtures and appurtenances as well as building shell, components, and surrounding areas to determine condition and nature and extent of repairs required.

Estimates material and equipment required.

Utilizes skills and knowledge of a variety of trades primarily of journeyman, carpentry and plumbing skills and other trades of intermediate skill level, such as mechanical, electrical, and painting.

Operates various types and sizes of motor vehicle and industrial equipment associated with maintenance work requirements.
