Job Description

Summary

This job involves fixing and maintaining a variety of machines and equipment at the Daniel K.

Inouye International Airport on Oahu, including pumps, laundry systems, and tunnel infrastructure, while following safety guidelines and manuals.

Workers will inspect structures, perform routine upkeep, and handle repairs independently.

It's a good fit for someone with hands-on mechanical experience who is reliable, comfortable with shift work including nights and holidays, and enjoys working in an airport setting.

This vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division.

Note: The starting monthly salary is at the minimum rate of pay advertised above.

Requirements

Independently performs skilled mechanical repair work in the adjustment, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of machinery and equipment such as water pumps, mechanical laundry equipment, and continuing work assignments in accordance with diagrams. Other duties include the inspection, repair and conducting preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment in tunnels and on tunnels approaches, to conduct and report on structural inspections of tunnels, and viaducts, reading operating manuals, while following the manufacturer's specifications, basic trade practices, and other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Experience and Training: THREE (3) YEARS of work experience in performing the mechanical repair and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check.

In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application.

Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years.

The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
