Maintenance Mechanic 4

Full time | Permanent

Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC)


The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Maintenance Mechanic 4 at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.


Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900-bed male facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula.

It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody incarcerated individuals.

CBCC also operates a Restricted Housing Unit.


Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all incarcerated individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

Requirements

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Direct and supervise a crew of incarcerated workers.
  • Review Service Requests (SR) through Asset Planner.
  • Ensure that all safety and security procedures are followed per CBCC policies and procedures.
  • Preform all Preventative Maintenance (PM) services on HVAC systems.
  • Create and maintain job descriptions for incarcerated workers.
  • Instruct incarcerated workers on the safe and proper use of all hand and power tools.
  • Train incarcerated workers on confined space, fall protection, lock-out tagout and other job-related fields as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and documents for compliance issues per CBCC policies and WAC’s.
  • Ensure complete compliance of refrigerant and reclamation and documentation per EPA standards.
  • Maintain inventory and order replacement parts.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Refrigerant transition & Recovery Certification Type I & II with EPA Refrigerant Card.
  • Two years’ journey level experience in one of the mechanical trades.

Preferred/ Desired qualifications:

  • Ability to follow and maintain safety and security procedures, DOC policies, facility Operational Memorandums, L&I laws, EPA regulations, and any other pertinent mandates or guidelines.
  • EL06 limited energy system license.
  • HVAC & Plumbing knowledge.
