This job involves handling paperwork for court cases, such as receiving and entering legal documents into computer systems, processing filings accurately, and keeping records up to date.
It's a clerical role in a busy court office where you'll work with judges, lawyers, and the public to ensure everything runs smoothly.
A good fit would be someone organized, detail-focused, and comfortable working both alone and as part of a team, with some office experience.
Incumbent is responsible for a variety of clerical functions in the case management systems. Accepts and processes legal filings on behalf of the court.
Follows established policies and procedures, is well organized, and detail oriented. Works cooperatively within a team environment to ensure all tasks are completed timely.
Substantial independent judgment and ability to work independently is required. Knowledge of various functions of the Clerk’s Office and how it relates to other agencies.
Requires extensive knowledge of and strict adherence to requirements and regulations related to the filing of legal documents and court proceedings; accessing court services; accessibility of court records, especially confidential records; and various fees and payment processes.
Agency Summary
Established by the Indiana Constitution, the Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, issues marriage licenses, and serves as the court’s fiscal agent and trustee of child support payments.
The Election Board receives nominations and petitions for elections, as well prepares ballots, and maintains voting machines by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment for our workforce to meet the needs of the residents of Indianapolis and Marion County.

Qualifications Minimum Job Requirements and QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of previous clerical experience required.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Attention to detail is a priority.
Requires ability to work independently with minimum supervision and promotes teamwork.Preferred Job Requirements and QualificationsAssociates degree or equivalent post-secondary education.
Clerical experience in a court or similar legal setting.
Additional Information Working ConditionsEssential functions are regularly performed in an office setting without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
