Typing Requirement: Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-07 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-05 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience handling and transporting mail, OR processing shipping requests for customers.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Mail and File Assistant (OA) and provides backup courier service.
  • Ensures and enforces only authorized personnel, as designated by their organizations, ship and receive official correspondence and packages.
  • Processes customer’s shipping requests and provides tracking information back to customer upon completion of shipments.
  • Prepares official classified and unclassified material for dispatch to include packaging, wrapping, registering, certifying, labeling, and applying proper postage.
  • Reviews outgoing mail for completeness and conformity with appropriate DISA, DoD, and USPS regulations and procedures. Verifies and ensures correct markings are placed on shipments when applicable for correct handling of distribution.
