The Business Solutions Division of Seattle Information Technology (IT) is seeking candidates for an M365 Administrator (ITP-C, BU) to join the Workplace Productivity team specializing in the Microsoft 365 suite.

Requirements

This position works under the Workplace Productivity Manager in Seattle IT in collaboration with fellow Digital Workplace team members, to contribute in building Seattle IT into an outstanding digital service delivery team.

Primary responsibilities will be administration and management of the existing Microsoft 365 suite.

This role requires advanced IT knowledge, including in-depth understanding of: Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, Exchange Online/Bookings, SharePoint Online, Forms, Planner/Project, Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, Entra ID), Microsoft Active Directory Services, Microsoft Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, IT security principals, TCP/IP networking principals, DNS principals, Microsoft PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and scripting skills.

Our goal is to support critical applications handled by the team through architecture design, education and training, operational support, planning and implementation, delivery excellence, high level of customer service, and align with City of Seattle ITSM standards.

Other responsibilities includes collaboration with other teams and technologies such as data governance (Purview IP and DLP), Microsoft 365 identity protection technologies (MFA, RBAC, Conditional Access, etc.), reporting & alerting, identify/write/update system, process, and customer documentation, participate in tiered support to meet service level expectations, participate in building and continually refining the roadmap for these technologies.

Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with Citywide customers on technical and business tasks through technical knowledge, experience, standard methodologies/processes, and recommendations for decision making. Partner with various entities throughout the City on Citywide challenges (Governance, IT Projects, Cloud Adoption, Digital Adoption of M365, etc.). Consult with the City’s various groups on the capabilities and usage of Workplace Productivity & Automation applications.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and/or training may be considered for the required qualifications.

  • Ability to pass and maintain NERC/CJIS certifications which includes an FBI background check.
  • 5+ years supporting clients in a large enterprise environment.
    • This position serves as the level 2 support for the M365 team and will escalate/involve level 3 support as necessary.
  • 3+ years direct technical understanding & experience with core Microsoft 365 suite of applications, Exchange Online/Bookings, Teams, Planner/Project, M365 Licensing, Purview, cloud services, and Entra ID user/group administration.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with mail reputation & management principles (DMARC/DKIM/SPF).
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with mail hygiene and filtering.
  • 3+ years scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Microsoft Graph API.
  • 3+ years planning and implementing solutions.
  • Excellent customer service and effective communication with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff or customers.
  • Ability to produce high quality work while maintaining schedule commitments, working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High energy: able to deal with demanding pace and constantly evolving priorities; ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, use good judgment and discretion, and interact with diverse workforce within the City and customer base.
  • Basic project management skills, and ability to use Azure Dev Ops\MS Planner or similar tools to help team visualize project phases and work breakdown structure.
  • Strong documentation skills and technical writing ability.
  • Stay up to date on new features and releases for the M365 platform.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, computer science, Information Technology Management, economics, or a related field.
  • At least one of the following certifications: M365 Fundamentals, M365 Teamwork Administrator Associate, M365 Team Administrator Associate, M365 Messaging Administrator Associate, M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert.
  • Experience using Quest Active Roles Services (ARS)/Active Directory native tools for AD User and Group automation and management tasks.
  • Experience with AvePoint managed services
  • Demonstrated ability leading and/or managing process improvement within sophisticated high change impact projects and providing planning & strategic recommendations for executive management or elected officials.
  • Able to engage with all levels of an organization, including executive and senior-level staff and front-line staff.
  • Ability to move easily between leading, supporting, developing, implementing roles.
  • Ability to implement and deliver on continuous process improvement program in a large, sophisticated environment.

The full salary range for this classification is $47.94 – 71.91 per hour.

Telework Expectations

This position offers flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

Hybrid telework schedules have a minimum requirement of three days onsite per week, which is subject to change at any time at the Mayor’s discretion.

Individual schedules are based on operational needs and agreement between the employee and their supervisor.
