Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping manage the configuration of naval aircraft systems and parts throughout their entire lifecycle, ensuring that any changes are properly tracked, approved, and implemented to keep everything running smoothly for the military.

You'll work on a team supporting fleet readiness centers and aviation programs in California.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in planning and organizing technical details in logistics or engineering, especially in defense or manufacturing settings.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 (for GS-07) or GS-07 (for GS-09) in configuration management or related logistics roles
  • Knowledge of configuration management planning, implementation, and lifecycle support for programs or projects
  • Ability to identify, record, coordinate, evaluate, and incorporate changes to configuration baselines
  • Experience capturing and maintaining product configuration information throughout the product lifecycle
  • Participation or leadership in configuration verification audits and reviews
  • Familiarity with CM regulations, policies, procedures, and data management techniques in a technical or defense environment
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance (implied for DoN positions)

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist on the Configuration Management team within the E-2/C-2 Multi-Platform Fleet Support Team at FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

GS-07 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS/05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Assisting with total life cycle Configuration Management planning for the assigned program/project and support the implementation of that planning.

2) Helping ensure that changes to a configuration baseline are properly identified, recorded, coordinated, and evaluated.

3) Supporting the capture and maintenance of product configuration information necessary to account for the configuration of a product throughout its life cycle.

4) Participating in configuration verification audits and reviews when required.

5) Working to support the team's planned Configuration Management objectives and strategies for current program tasks.

GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS/07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing total life cycle Configuration Management planning for the assigned program/project and managing the implementation of that planning.

2) Ensuring that changes to a configuration baseline are properly identified, justified, recorded, coordinated, evaluated, approved or disapproved, and incorporated, as appropriate.

3) Managing the capture and maintenance of product configuration information necessary to account for the configuration of a product throughout the life cycle of that work product.

4) Conducting and coordinating configuration verification audits and reviews when required.

5) Executing to planned Fleet Support Team Configuration Management Lead objectives and management strategies for current and long range (3-5 year) program tasks.

  • You will serve as a member of a project team which provides logistics and technical support for Configuration Management (CM) to NAVAIR Program Manager, Air (PMA), Fleet Readiness Centers and fleet users.
  • You will perform CM for designated weapon system, associated components, and related support systems across the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE).
  • You will provide technical competence of assigned CM regulations, policies, procedures and supporting contractual, production, logistics, documentation, auditing and data management techniques.
  • You will manage the capture and maintenance of product configuration information necessary to account for the configuration of a product throughout the life cycle of the product.
  • You will provide total life cycle CM planning for the assigned program/project and manage the implementation while adhering to CM policy and procedure.
  • You will establish a structure for products and product configuration, determining initial operating capability configuration, resolving product issues, ensuring data acquisition.
  • You will ensure changes to a configuration baseline are identified, justified, recorded, coordinated, evaluated, approved/disapproved and incorporated.
