Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing logistics planning and support for building and maintaining Navy ships, ensuring everything from resources to training is handled efficiently for major projects.

It focuses on coordinating teams, monitoring budgets and operations, and making sure ships are ready for long-term use.

A good fit would be someone with experience in large-scale project management, especially in defense or shipping, who enjoys strategic planning and problem-solving.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 or NH-03 in developing acquisition plans, directing program implementation, identifying resource needs, or monitoring logistics and funding for major acquisition programs
  • Knowledge of DOD/Navy Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) policies and guidance
  • Expertise in acquisition and life cycle logistics support planning, particularly for Military Sealift Command (MSC) ACAT I/III ships
  • Ability to perform short- and long-range planning, coordinate tasking, and optimize resource utilization
  • Skills in managing in-process reviews, audits, and training objectives for ship crews under acquisition contracts
  • Experience monitoring operations to improve logistics support efficiency and integrating separate logistics functions
  • Proficiency in ensuring product support for systems, system-of-systems, and shipbuilding throughout the life cycle

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Auxiliary and Special Mission Shipbuilding Program Office (PMS 325) of PROGRAM EXECUTIVE OFFICE SHIPS.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (GS-13 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing acquisition plans, directing program implementation, identifying resource needs, or monitoring logistics and funding for a major acquisition program.

  • You will mange development and implementation of total ship Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Planning in accordance with applicable DOD/Navy and customer ILS policy and guidance.
  • You will be responsible for providing logistics expertise and substantive planning, direction and control for Acquisition/Life Cycle Logistics Support Planning, with particular emphasis on Military Sealift Command (MSC) ACAT I/III ships.
  • Performs short and long range planning, coordinates and integrates tasking and determines the most effective and efficient utilization of resources.
  • You will manage the development/implementation of in-process reviews and audits of all ILS resources required to ensure the ship’s crews are trained in accordance with the training objectives provided for in the applicable acquisition contract.
  • You will monitor operations to improve logistics support time.
  • You will coordinate and integrate separate logistics functions for efficient and timely logistics support for a major acquisition program.
  • You will ensure all program requirements have proper product support for relevant system, system-of-systems, and shipbuilding have support throughout their life cycle.
  • You will conduct final reviews of all completed work to ensure valid technical concepts and methods have been applied.
