Summary

This job involves leading a team of psychologists to provide mental health treatment and support for young people in a youth detention center, focusing on helping them rehabilitate and develop socially.

You'll guide staff on best practices, run meetings, and sometimes testify in court about the care given.

Key Requirements

  • Current license to practice psychology issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology
  • One year of experience as a Licensed Psychologist MH or equivalent in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • One year of experience as a licensed psychologist treating inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral issues
  • Ability to oversee clinical services for adjudicated delinquent youth, including habilitation, rehabilitation, and social development
  • Skills in directing staff on treatment modalities, clinical interventions, aftercare planning, and trauma-informed care
  • Experience developing and evaluating best practice guidelines and standards for psychological services
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site in Montgomery County, PA, with travel and overtime as needed; no telework available

The Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS) is seeking a passionate, dedicated Licensed Psychologist Manager to provide direction in the treatment, development, and implementation of best practice guidelines and standards to be used by staff at Southeast Youth Development Center. Requirements

In this position, you will oversee and direct clinical services aimed at the habilitation, rehabilitation, and social development of court-committed, adjudicated delinquent youth.

Your work will involve providing direction to staff regarding treatment areas, clinical intervention, and treatment-related issues.

Treatment areas include but are not limited to modalities, theories, performance-based treatment, aftercare planning, and trauma-informed care.

You will assist in developing and evaluating best practice guidelines and minimum standards.

Some of your duties will also include leading treatment meetings, evaluating psychological services, and conducting staff meetings.

Additionally, you will testify as an expert witness in legal proceedings regarding individuals receiving treatment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel required, overtime as needed
  • You must be willing to accept employment at Southeast Youth Development Center and commute to this location in Montgomery County.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or a Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, mental retardation and/or behavioral dysfunction.


Special Requirements:

You must be in possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board.

Applicants with out of state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
