L&I’s Insurance Services’ Claims Initiation unit is seeking an Office Assistant Lead to join our team. The primary purpose of this team is to provide timely services to customers to ensure employers are supported and workers are protected.


In this position you will lead, coach, and mentor the Claims Initiation team by providing quality assurance and work checks.

You will be responsible for initiating time loss, medical only and employer closure claims, answering incoming telephone calls, entering high volumes of data into the department mainframe system, and providing support to new staff and peers.

Requirements

Some of what you will do:

  • Train and mentor new and existing members of the initiation team.
  • Process all reopening applications.
  • Review claim documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with rules.
  • Return claims with insufficient information to self-insured employers.
  • Process employer closures and ensure information is entered into the system.
  • Track production and compile weekly and monthly production reports.
  • Provide quality assurance and work checking to team members.
  • Provide phone support.
  • Assign work as appropriate and provide evaluation feedback.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

AND

Two (2) years of clerical/data entry experience including one year of experience directing the work of others.

OR

Equivalent education/experience.

AND

Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM.

  • Experience working in a professional office setting.
  • More than three years’ experience in clerical/data entry roles.

  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 55 WPM or more.
