    Requirements

    The Legislation and Grant Allocation Compliance Coordinator (LGACC) is responsible for managing the organizations's legislative affairs and grant funding efforts. This dual-role position involves monitoring and analyzing policy developments, advocating for legislative priorities, researching and applying for grants, and ensuring compliance with funding regulations. The individual will work closely with internal teams, government officials, and external statekholders to secure fucning and advance the organization's legislative goals.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE WORK
    Knowledge Required: Comprehensive knowledge of legislative processes at state and federal levels, including bill drafting, committee procedures, public safety policies, and rulemaking; criminal justice statutes, funding, and administrative mandates; government structures, interagency coordination, and the political landscape affecting public safety; grant funding, compliance, and budgeting principles.

    Skills Required: Strong written communication skills for drafting legislation, policy briefs, reports, and correspondence; verbal communication skills for coordinating with legislators, staff, agencies, and external stakeholders; analytical skills to interpret legislation, assess policy impacts, and summarize complex information; organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple bills, deadlines, and priorities; research skills using legislative databases, legal references, and policy resources; relationship-building and coordination skills to facilitate collaboration across offices and committees; proficiency in legislative tracking, research tools, and data management for monitoring policy developments and supporting informed decisions.

    Abilities Required: Ability to track and monitor legislation through all stages of the legislative process; synthesize complex legal or policy information into clear, actionable summaries; work independently while coordinating with diverse teams and stakeholders; maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment on sensitive matters; adapt quickly to changing legislative priorities and deadlines; support department heads and staff in hearings, meetings, and briefings; establish effective working relationships; read and comprehend a broad range of subject matter; communicate information in a clear and organized manner orally and in writing; produce written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience; solve complex problems logically and systematically; make sound decisions and recommendations under conditions of urgency and pressure.

    Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Political Science, Public Administration, or Social Science.

    Experience: Three years (3) of professional experience in researching, drafting, and editing legislative materials (ie bills, memos, reports) and tracking legislation and monitoring policy issues. Must have in-depth knowledge of the legislative process at the state and/or federal level.

    Additional Information

    This position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be "at will," which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
