Job Description
The objective of the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office is to provide fair, effective and expeditious investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses within the County. A Legal Associate is responsible for providing complex clerical and legal support to legal staff including general day-to-day administrative tasks, handling multiple phone lines, records management, and intake duties.

Essential Duties
  • Execute general office procedures and duties to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive relationships
  • Remain up to date on relevant laws, regulations, and legal principles
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping practices and organize legal documents
  • Conduct independent and thorough legal research using various resources
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Georgia state laws and legal procedures
  • Utilize software applications like Microsoft Outlook for legal tasks
  • Support attorneys in case preparations, including drafting documents and conduction research
  • Assist with administrative tasks during court proceedings
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance legal knowledge and skills

Grade
The grade for this position is B23(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D. and
  • Four (4) or more years of legal support experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Georgia state laws
