Base salary range: $41,966 - $54,557

GS-07: To be qualified at the GS-7 grade level in federal service, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, a Combination of Education and Experience, OR Superior Academic Achievement.
Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as performing the following types of duties: Assisting by preparing routine legal documents (e.g., basic motions, notices, subpoenas, proposed orders, or routine correspondence).
Assisting with trial preparation and/or courtroom presentation by organizing and indexing evidentiary exhibits, compiling witness and exhibit lists, assembling trial notebooks.
Assisting with case development and preparation by performing basic legal or factual research or preparing written summaries of evidentiary materials.
Assisting attorneys with the discovery process by receiving, indexing and organizing discovery; transmitting discovery productions, maintaining discovery logs, and tracking productions to opposing counsel.
Education: One (1) full year of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field (e.g., Legal Studies, Law, Criminal Justice).
Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
Superior Academic Achievement: Possess a bachelor's degree or expect to complete the requirements for a bachelor's degree within the next 9 months AND possess at least one of the following criteria: (1) Class standing- in the upper third of the graduating class in the college or university.
(2) Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
(3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies.
These honor societies are listed by the Association of College Honor Societies.
GS-09: To be qualified at the GS-9 grade level in federal service, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a Combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector.
Examples of specialized experiences include: Managing discovery in a variety of formats by receiving, indexing, and/or organizing incoming discovery materials.
Conducting legal research in support of assigned criminal or civil cases, utilizing legal databases and/or public sources.
Drafting routine legal documents and correspondence, such as requests for extensions, letters transmitting discovery, routine notices, and/or written summaries of witness statements or documentary evidence.
Assisting attorneys with hearing or trial preparation by preparing trial subpoenas, assembling evidentiary exhibits, maintaining witness lists and schedules, and/or preparing demonstrative exhibits.
Supporting attorneys during court proceedings or other live case presentations, such as by using trial presentation software and equipment to display exhibits or demonstratives and/or managing witnesses.
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law): a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.B.
or J.D., if related. Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for legal and administrative support in the Criminal or Civil Division.
At the full performance level, you will provide a variety of legal and technical support services to the United States Attorney's Office, District of Idaho in Boise.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Providing clerical, legal, and administrative support to multiple attorneys, including docketing, calendaring, and applying basic knowledge of Federal Rules of Criminal and/or Civil Procedure.
Preparing pleadings, stipulations, motions, tables of authorities, tables of contents, and other legal documents to include cite-checking legal briefs.
Managing discovery in a variety of formats, including paper documents, PDF files, image files, audio files, video files, and other electronic file types.
Managing intake and production of discovery and other relevant data by logging receipt, reviewing, organizing, and indexing.
Preparing, organizing, and helping present exhibits for court proceedings which involve audio/video, transcripts, documents and visual materials, including charts, diagrams, photographs and models.
Conducting factual and legal research in legal and non-legal databases in support of investigations and cases.
Composing original correspondence that does not require legal interpretations but does require a working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology.
Assisting with trial preparation and presentation by preparing exhibits and utilizing litigation technology.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
