GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing victim and/or witness correspondence; delivering legal support derived from sources such as: Manual for Courts-Martial and/or Uniform Code of Military Justice; and providing administrative assistance for Victim-Witness Assistance Programs.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Law.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing knowledge of victim-witness assistance programs to ensure victims are offered all available assistance such as counseling/treatment; interviewing witnesses to ascertain vital information pertaining to investigations; and performing legal research to provide sound advice on highly sensitive issues.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Law.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

GS-11 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

• Provide litigation support to Special Victim Prosecutors.
• Coordinate services with federal and local governmental, civilian, and non-profit organizations.
• Provide status updates to victims and /or witnesses regarding investigation, apprehension, trial, conviction and/or release.
• Facilitate logistical support for victims and witnesses such as coordinating lodging and travel arrangements.
• Conduct legal research to stay current with legal aspects of victims and witnesses' rights.
