About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK.
Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Must have cash handling and computer experience.
Applicant must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in activities or programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned.
Major Duties:
Works under the direction of the Supervisory Recreation Specialist who is available to deal with unusual situations which may occur and to provide guidance and instructions when performing new or procedurally complex duties.
As a working leader, performs the following types of lead duties: Provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets work started and sets the work pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available; and ensures that employees follow security and safety rules.
Reports all safety violations to immediate supervisor. Provides input on performance, progress, and disciplinary problems. Enforces established operating policies and procedures.
When not performing lead duties performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of recreational facilities.
Circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; receives and resolves customer complaints; provides information and general instruction on the safety and the use of equipment, facilities and machinery.
Issues tools, equipment and specialty items to authorized customers, checking identification, and completing proper paperwork where appropriate.
Receives returned items inspection for obvious damage and missing parts. Performs minor repair on equipment as directed.
In an Outdoor Recreation facility assists in directing patrons, scheduling the use of equipment and scheduling special trips and tours. Checks inventories and supplies and records them accordingly.
Assumes responsibility for cash during tour of duty "cash collected", checks and credit cards. Reports to supervisor any shortages. Adheres to safety and physical security regulations and standards.
Conducts inventory at beginning and end of tour. Where applicable inventories and restocks daily.
Furnishes general information to patrons (such as kinds of equipment, activities and facilities available).
Maintains safe, organized, and clean facility environment by preinspecting areas upon opening and closing the facility.
Drives the program growth by assisting with the JBER Life Membership program for outdoor recreation, supporting marketing initiatives, and helping to plan and execute special events.
Additionally, they will serve as a Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder. Will be required to operate a Motor Vehicle to run errands and pick up parts/supplies as needed.
