The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to 354th Force Support Squadron, Outdoor Recreation.
In order to qualify, you must meet the SPECIALIZED experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Recreation Specialist Series 0188.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes Applying principles, practices, and procedures used to manage outdoor recreational activities.
Applying safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Assisting in developing and executing both APF and NAF budgets for a specific outdoor recreation program.
Organizing and utilizing all available community resources within the specific program framework.
Planning, organizing, and directing the functions and staff of an activity within the scope of Outdoor Recreation. Communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.
This education was received in an accredited college or university.
Additionally, the major study was in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as: outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used to manage outdoor recreational activities.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of procedures to assist in developing and executing both APF and NAF budgets for a specific outdoor recreation program.
Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing all available community resources within the specific program framework.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an activity within the scope of Outdoor Recreation. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of a segment of the Outdoor Recreation Activities section, ensuring all 354th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Assist within established agency policy and objectives, plans a segment of the installation's overall outdoor recreation program. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents Outdoor Recreation Programs with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Develops comprehensive short- and long-term budgets and fiscal requirements to meet (specific) program's objectives and maintain internal control.
