This job involves leading a team of lifeguards at an outdoor pool on a military base, ensuring swimmer safety through constant monitoring, rescues, and first aid while also handling scheduling, cash management, and facility maintenance.
It's a flexible, part-time role with no guaranteed hours up to 40 per week and no benefits, ideal for someone with lifeguarding experience who enjoys working outdoors and leading others in a recreational setting.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Whiteman Outdoor Pool. This position is considered flexible.
You are guaranteed 0 hours, however could work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible to earn annual leave or sign up for benefits.
Employee will be eligible for the use of the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, club, swimming pools and other activities. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use. Maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Ability to lead 3 or more workers to accomplish assignments.
Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods.
Satisfactory completion of installation records checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
Ensures that water slides are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
Under the direction of the Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Recreation) prepares daily schedules for assigned employees. Works along with other employees and sets the pace.
Controls and issues pool passes, prepares cashier report and deposit slip. Deposits funds to the central cashier daily. Maintains Time and Attendance cards for assigned personnel.
Provides guidance for assigned lifeguards and ensures safety and hygiene. Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
Reports the status and progress of work and any issues or concerns to immediate supervisor. Conducts in-service training to other assigned lifeguards as directed by supervisor.
May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
