This home-based (remote) position is open to Washington residents and those residing on the ID/WA and OR/WA borders. Work may be performed remotely or from our office located in Tumwater, based on the employee’s preference.


The Opportunity

Join our team as a Lead Health Services Consultant, where you will provide technical credentialing consultation and assistance to health services providers and staff within health licensing, a public health program closely linked to the Department's mission.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • As a journey level professional, conduct assessments of credentialing applications and implements licensing and regulatory policies for public health programs.
  • Provide technical consultation and assistance to health service providers and staff on difficult questions and complex, non-standard regulatory and licensing activities for Credentialing.
  • Provide expertise, support and guidance to Credentialing Specialists in resolving complex inquiries and issues.
  • Identify complex, irregular issues and provide recommendations to solve them.

Required Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of experience processing applications for a health profession or facility credentialing program.

  • One (1) year or more of experience using an Integrated Licensing and Regulatory System (ILRS) data base or similar regulatory or licensing database.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience resolving customer inquiries, problems or complaints in a health care or health services program.

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience


Six (6) months experience and an ability to use computer software as follows:

  • Word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, to create, format, edit, preview, print, and save documents. Use standard functions to select, edit, copy, paste, format, and spell check text.
  • Written communications and calendar programs, such as Outlook, to compose, send, and respond to electronic mail, and coordinate schedules and schedule meetings.
  • Experience in a complex electronic database system to update or maintain records, such as Healthcare Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMS).
  • Accessing and searching internet to find and download information.

Preferred Qualifications

While these aren’t required, having them can help you stand out as a candidate.

  • Additional years of experience processing applications for a health profession or facility credentialing program.
  • One or more years of experience reviewing documents and taking appropriate action based on an analysis of the information.
  • Associate degree or higher education.
  • Three or more years of demonstrated knowledge and understanding of credentialing requirements, processes and procedures. Familiarity with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within particular field of Washington State DOH credentialing.
  • Experience working within various online databases such as Integrated Licensing and Regulatory System (ILRS) or Healthcare Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMs) to create, review documents for licensure, issue and maintain records.
  • Six months’ experience working in Healthcare Enforcement and Licensing Management System (HELMs) to create, review, issue and maintain records.

Working Conditions:

The following describes the working conditions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Work Setting:

Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in indoor at home or office environments. This position is sedentary, working at a computer for extended periods.

Schedule:

Standard DOH business hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, an alternate or flexible work schedule may be considered at the employee's request, subject to supervisory approval.

The position would not normally require working in excess of 40 hours per week, but if it became necessary for business needs, your supervisor would notify you in advance.

Travel Requirements:

Travel is not required to perform the duties of this position; however infrequent travel may be expected to attend meetings, trainings, or conferences.

When driving for state business, the employee must be able to legally operate a state or privately-owned vehicle; OR provide alternate transportation while on state business.

Tools & Equipment:

This position uses standard office furniture and equipment, such as a desk, office chair, cell phone, computer, monitor(s), keyboard, and mouse.

Customer Interactions:

The position requires daily interactions on the telephone and in writing with customers, some of whom may be upset, frustrated, or irate.
