Base salary range: $41,966 - $54,557
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-6. Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or 1 year graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a small team of firefighters in responding to emergencies, including structural fires, aircraft crashes, and hazardous material incidents, while also providing basic medical support.
It requires hands-on experience in firefighting operations and training others on safety protocols.
A good fit would be someone with proven firefighting expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for emergency response in a military or high-stakes environment.
You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS/ HAZMAT TECH) in the Fire and Emergency Services Division of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Instructing employees on specific tasks and firefighting techniques; 2) Preparing and submitting a variety of documentation such as reports, schedules, checklists, and data files; 3) Performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and/or large industrial complexes; 4) Performing crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations; 5) Performing hazard and risk assessments; and 6) Performing basic life support, initiating established medical protocols.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HazMat Technician, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Fire Officer I, and Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I.
These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. Also requires National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification at the EMT level.
