Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of electronics technicians to troubleshoot, test, and maintain the AN/SPY-1 radar system on Navy ships, often while at sea or during urgent repairs.

You'll provide hands-on technical support, modify equipment, and guide your team in solving complex problems to keep combat systems running smoothly.

It's a great fit for experienced Navy or defense technicians who enjoy fieldwork, leadership, and working in high-stakes environments abroad.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level as an Electronics Technician, including reviews, inspections, and expert consultations on projects
  • Expertise in AN/SPY-1 radar systems and shipboard electronics
  • Ability to provide technical assistance for urgent casualty reports (CASREPS) and direct communication with ship officers
  • Hands-on experience with functional checkouts, assessments, adjustments, and testing of new or modernized shipboard systems, primarily at sea
  • Participation in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes involving component modifications
  • Leadership skills to coach teams in problem-solving methods and integrate organizational goals into work
  • Familiarity with combat systems and weapons division operations in a naval maintenance center

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (AN/SPY-1 RADAR) in the Engineering Department, Combat System Weapons Division, (Code R290) of FWD DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET ROTA Spain.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as an Electronics Technician performing reviews, onsite inspections and evaluations to provide expert consultation on projects.

Specialized experience may include: 1) Advising financial management staff on the application of funding policy and regulatory requirements.

2) Interpreting, assessing, and projecting potential impact of new or revised congressional legislation.

3) Analyzing data for various financial reports (e.g., budget formulation, budget execution, accounting, audit readiness).

4) Evaluating expenditures to determine compliance with organizational budgetary, accounting, or financial procedures and practices.

  • You will provide technical assistance for urgent mission-degrading Casualty Reports (CASREPS) or requests for technical assistance affecting assigned subsystems, without customary references, and requiring direct communications with ships' officers.
  • You will perform functional checkout, assessment, adjustment, and test of new or modernized shipboard systems in a systems qualifications test environment (a majority of which is at sea).
  • You will participate in ordnance alterations (ORDALTs), ship alterations, and field changes (FCs) which include actual hands-on modification of components.
  • You will ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's work products and services.
  • You will coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques.
