Summary

This job involves leading the daily care of dogs and cats at a pet center on a U.S.

Air Force base in Japan, including feeding, cleaning, monitoring health, and handling administrative tasks like scheduling and record-keeping. It's a part-time role that's open to U.S.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Pet Care Center, Yokota AB. This is a regular part-time position, 20-34 hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have experience working at pet related facility.

Must have experience and knowledge of proper care of animals to include examining animals for obvious signs of illness, disease, and distress, and providing necessary care.

Must be able to restrain and handle hard to control animals. Requires knowledge of administrative duties such as collecting fees and logging daily activities.

Must be able to lift animals weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance.

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl to retrieve animals and objects. Major Duties:

Receives and shelters animals brought to the facility for temporary care. Provides routine and personal care according to established methods and/or special instructions for dogs and cats.

Observes animals for abnormal appearance, illness, and disease, and determines/provides necessary care as needed. Ensures special feeding and watering instructions are followed.

Ensures medication is given to animals as requested by owners, and force feeds and applies medication when necessary.

Handles and restrains hard to control animals to prevent injury to the animal, staff, or self.

Cleans and disinfects feeding utensils, pens, kennels, run area, and restroom, and ensures all cleanings are performed within timely manner. Bathes animals as needed.

Continually observes animals and notifies superior of nay obvious abnormal changes of appearance and activity.

Performs administrative duties on the computer such as creating employee work schedule, inputting payroll, logging daily activities, collecting fees for services, and creating/updating forms as necessary.

Operates a motor vehicle to transport supplies and animals if necessary. Will be appointed as Records Custodian (RC) for the facility.

RC maintains and disposes of the office's active and inactive records. Must learn the functional mission of the office of record that the records support and know the purposes the records serve.

Develops and maintains the office file plan. Performs training for newly hired employees and provides follow-up training and instructions to employees.
