Summary

This job is for a law clerk who helps a judge in the Marion County Circuit Court by watching court hearings, researching legal topics, and writing memos and orders on assigned cases.

It may also involve creating rules for the court and working with small claims courts to develop policies.

A good fit would be someone who has just finished law school, enjoys detailed legal work, and can make smart decisions on their own.

Full Job Description

The Marion County Circuit Court has an opportunity for a Lawyer Law Clerk to assist the Circuit Court judge in a variety of legal matters.

Requirements

The responsibilities of this position include the following: observing hearings, conducting legal research, and drafting memoranda and orders on Circuit Court matters assigned by the Judge. The Law Clerk may be called upon to draft local rules for the Marion County Circuit Court. The Law Clerk may also be called upon to work with the Marion County Small Claims Courts on drafting and posting local rules and developing uniform Small Claims Court policies.

Qualifications

Viable candidates will possess a Juris Doctor degree. Salary is commensurate with experience.

This is an exempt position with full benefit options available.
