Full Job Description

As a Laundry Technician you will perform duties and tasks related to laundry services at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF).

To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Receives e-mail or work order request through an automated database/computer system for laundry service of biosafety level (BSL)-3 and BSL-4 laboratory clothing.
  • Sorts soiled laundry by kind of clothing in order to determine the type of laundry treatment to be given each group.
  • Inspects laundry for presence of compounds and mixtures that will damage washing machines.
  • Sorts laundered clothing by individual person, folds garments and places in cart for distribution.
  • Maintains stores of soaps, chemicals, starches, and other laundry supplies.
