THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for an IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK)-Title 5 OBO, Position Description Number T5349P02 and is part of the WI JFHQ J6, Wisconsin National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.
Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must have 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level.
Candidate must have experience developing, defining, assessing and recommending concepts or solutions to implement network designs, policies and procedures that result in continual upgrade, enhancement and optimization of the command-and-control network.
Experience ensuring proper network configuration and standardization.
Able to set a configuration and monitor a broad variety of network devices such as routers, switches, firewall, remote access systems, virtual private network, and intrusion detection and security systems.
Candidate must have project management on network modifications (such as voice, video and data), architecture and enhancements.
Experience implementing and tracking diverse network protocol schemes, network baseline monitoring, and network capacity management. Experience redesigning network architecture as needed. Major Duties:
Serves as computer network engineer.
Develops, defines, assesses and recommends concepts or solutions to implement network designs, policies and procedures that will result in continual upgrade, enhancement and optimization of the state's wide area command and control network and that will ensure proper network configuration and standardization.
Applies extensive knowledge of computer network engineering and related disciplines to ensure that emerging technologies are considered in the development of technical refreshment of network components and configurations.
Serves as a project manager during the implementation of C4 projects. Redesigns network architecture to insure sufficient bandwidth is available to support the future requirements of the organization.
Coordinates with procurement officials in developing statements of work containing quantities of required support.
Provides technical advice and guidance to the directorate and to contractor personnel to facilitate tasks and projects. *** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. ***
