Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), Position Description Number D0262P01 and is part of the KS Joint Forces Headquarters, National Guard.

Military Grades: E-1 through E-9, CW-1 through CW-5, or O-1 through O-4 Compatible Military Assignments: Immaterial GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.

Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-9).

Experience, education, or training in analysis, analytical reasoning, technical support and guidance, and troubleshooting post-installation problems.

Experience as technical specialist on issues relating to the wide area networks (WAN)/ local area networks (LAN) systems and their integration in the network.

Experience in network administration, optimization and performance.

Knowledge of and skill in applying network systems design, development, testing, installation, operations, management and maintenance concepts and methods along with the organization's network architecture, topology and protocols.

Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.

Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.

A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

Physical Demands: The work is sedentary. No special demands are required to perform the work. Work Environment: The work is performed in a typical office setting.

Special safety precautions are not required. Major Duties:

As an IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), GS-2210-11, you will function as a technical specialist on issues relating to the wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) systems and their integration in the network.

The work involves network administration, optimization and performance in support of the supports the state's wide area command and control integrated network. Perform other duties as assigned.
