Key Requirements

  • Skills in SIP trunking, Session Border Controllers (e.g., Cisco CUBE, Oracle Acme Packet), and telephony dial plan design
  • Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC, with availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and during government shutdowns or inclement weather

Full Job Description

Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate and lead studies, special projects, and assignments. Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on different network-related applications software packages.

Required Work Experience GED with eight to ten years of relevant work experience; Associates with six to eight years of relevant work experience; Bachelor’s with four to eight years of relevant work experience; Master’s with two to four years of relevant work experience.

Desired Qualifications BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications or a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in Unified Communications/Voice technologies.

Minimum of 5 years Cisco UC/Voice experience. Strong knowledge of TCP /IP stack and Cisco data networking technologies and products.

Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) implementation in a Cisco centric enterprise network. Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure.

Strong knowledge and understanding of Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, IM&P and other UC application’s building blocks: Partitions, CSS's, Device Pools, Users, Extension Mobility, MOH, media resource/conferencing, SRST, ICT/UC, Clusters, Route List, Route Groups, Hunt Groups/List, Translation Patterns, etc.

Extensive knowledge of voice signaling, media protocols, and troubleshooting; SIP, RTP, TLS, H.323, and MGCP. Experience with configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Cisco analog Voice Gateways.

Experience configuring and troubleshooting SIP Trunking and Session Border Controllers such as Cisco Cube and Oracle Acme Packet.

Strong knowledge of telephony dial plan design and call routing/control protocols. Experience with integrating collaboration tools between Cisco and Microsoft.

Experience configuring, testing, deploying, and troubleshooting Expressway C and E, and configuring MRA. Experience with Cisco Business Edition 7000 UCS servers and VMWare ESX a plus.

Cisco CCNP collaboration certification level or knowledge is preferred. Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S.

Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late night, overnight, and weekend sessions.

In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate.

As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during government shutdowns, in inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption.

As such, maintenance windows may only occur at night, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays.

citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance. Major Duties:

Provides technical support for communications network hardware, software releases and network systems to users, other technical staff and contracting vendors, and mission critical systems.

Leads major, highly visible projects to evaluate and analyze new communications network hardware, software, or systems for support in the Senate environment; makes recommendations to senior management on future communications network releases.

Provides initial installation and secondary troubleshooting of hardware and software for communications network devices and systems; monitors, evaluates, and resolves issues involving network hardware/software, applications, or service performance.

Develops project plans and analyzes requirements for communications network hardware or software implementation throughout the Senate, leads in developing plans for upgrading, installing, validating, and implementing on existing and new sub-systems for enhancement or compliance.

Plans, schedules, coordinates, and leads technical studies, analyses, and evaluations of future and existing local and wide area network (LAN and WAN), voice network or communications systems.

Develops traffic engineering studies and analyses to determine future voice and data communications network requirements.
