Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing IT equipment and resources for a Navy facility, including ordering hardware and software, handling customer support, and overseeing the full lifecycle of IT assets to meet the needs of military and civilian users.

Key Requirements

  • One year of IT-related experience demonstrating attention to detail, such as overseeing program design, coding, and debugging by contractors
  • One year of IT-related experience in customer service, including assessing needs, resolving problems, and providing instructions to users
  • One year of IT-related experience in oral communication, such as relaying technical instructions to skeptical customers and representing teams in meetings
  • One year of IT-related experience in problem solving, including analyzing issues, evaluating alternatives, and improving help desk procedures
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 level, including providing IT customer service, inventory management, and support to civilian, contractor, and military customers
  • Experience creating and modifying user accounts in enterprise systems
  • Experience creating and modifying procurement orders for hardware and software in standalone and network systems

Full Job Description

You will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT) in the Information Systems Department Code 600 of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

(For GS -11) I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: overseeing the implementation of programming specifications by monitoring program design, coding and debugging performed by contractors. 2.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: determining customer requirements and assisting customers by recognizing and analyzing trends by providing instruction and orientation. 3.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: contacting customers at the Help Desk Level that may include those who are skeptical or uncooperative, skilled in communication to relay instructions and represent the team in meetings within the organization.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: analyzing the types, frequency and solutions necessary to correct problems and improve help desk operational procedures.

In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Experience providing Information Technology (IT) customer service and inventory management as well as services for civilian, contractor, and military customers.

Experience creating and modifying accounts within enterprise systems.

Experience and creating and modifying procurement orders for both hardware and software requirements for both standalone and network systems.

  • You will perform all duties associated with the lifecycle management of IT assets and resources.
  • You will solicit and obtain proper authorization and approval to order via the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) contract or open purchase, as appropriate.
  • You will research and evaluate new and unusual computer resources to meet the customer's needs.
  • You will perform as project coordinator and technical expert for special projects that provide customers IT resources to include technical support and training on new IT products and resources.
  • You will plan and coordinate the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of like hardware and software systems.
