Base salary range: $88,520 - $115,079

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves managing and maintaining computer servers and IT systems for a U.S.
government office focused on international security and law enforcement, including troubleshooting problems, advising on new technologies, and training others.
A good fit would be someone with strong IT experience who enjoys solving technical issues in a fast-paced government environment and can explain complex ideas simply to non-experts.
This position is in the Administration and Support Division, a subordinate organization of the Office of Security Assistance & Operations, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL/SAO).
The incumbent serves as an Information Technology Specialist, reporting to the Branch Chief.

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below: Attention to Detail - Evaluates machine usage and based on current usage patterns, develops acquisition plans to support future expansion and usage needs.
Customer Service - Advises other specialists and managers on implementation of new or enhanced IT systems including providing on the job and formal training.
Oral Communication - Communicate complex technical requirements to non technical personnel.
Problem Solving - Coordinates the resolution of system problems by identifying problems and meeting with users, managers, and hardware/software vendors to discuss options.
AND Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing technical and professional guidance in the field of information technology to accomplish the mission.
Experience Identifying and evaluating of appropriate, including new and emerging technologies which can be adapted to these emergency situations.
Experience investigating systems problems, including the performance of e mail operations, and works directly with customers.
NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position. Major Duties:
