Full Job Description
The Operations and Innovation Services (OIS) Systems Management area within Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) department is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Engineer to assist with building structures and systems to ensure technical capacity for service delivery to business partners, focusing on the business intelligence and data warehouse disciplines using strong SQL development skills.
Location and hours: This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Based on business needs of this position, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
- Serve as the database administrator for DOCCR, which includes managing the data warehouse, create databases for webforms, and build reports
- Support system related releases and system outage resolutions
- Collaborate effectively with data analyst team members, developers, technical teams, and business stakeholders
- Design and develop stored procedures, views and functions using SQL development skills
- Identify opportunities to optimize our environment ensuring efficiency and adherence to industry best practices related to security and infrastructure
- Analyze manual processes, identify process bottlenecks, and effectively resolve them
- Build repeatable automated and sustainable data migration (ETL) and reporting routines and processes for both on-premises and cloud
- Provide guidance in modernizing legacy, maintenance, and automation processes
- Interpret business needs to implement new solutions based on Hennepin County standards and industry best practices
Need to have:- One of the following:
- Four years of information technology experience.
- Associate/vocational/technical degree in computer science/engineering or a related information technology field and two years of information technology experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, data engineering, business Intelligence, data analytics or a related Information Technology field.
- Certification or ability to be certified in a leading professional level certification area (ex: MCSA, MCSE, IBM, CDMP, etc.)
Nice to have:- Experience:
- In data architecture, data modeling, database administration, and security.
- Leading technical solution design in an environment that includes on prem and cloud infrastructure.
- Deploying applications in the cloud for internal and external users.
- Designing and building out cloud components.
- Applying and auditing SQL and Windows security.
- Working with automating processes, such as pipelines, flows, and power automate.
- Ability to:
- Present and communicate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for service operations.
- Work with Enterprise Architecture to balance cost and efficiency related to software and infrastructure.
- Work with and support SQL database administration and IIS.
- Knowledge of:
- Server/windows administration including migrating servers, databases, PowerShell, SQL scripting and automation (IAAS).
