  • Obtain Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) within two years
  • Obtain Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) within two years

Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-2210-12, IT - Data Fabric Technical Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, C5ISC INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES DIVISION in ALEXANDRIA, Virginia.

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal or private sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Specialized experience must include the following: Providing and overseeing technical support services projects designing and implementing data pipelines to ingest and process large volumes of data from various sources, to include USCG, DHS and DoD enterprise applications.

Managing projects processing and analyzing large datasets using distributed computing frameworks, as well as experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks.

Managing projects that develop and implement scalable and secure data storage solutions using Big Data technologies like, Amazon S3, or Azure Data Lake Storage, and experience with data management tools.

Leading technical support services projects to enable the sustainment of a secure, reliable, and resilient Enterprise Data Fabric that enhances mission effectiveness and improves efficiencies.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

You will serve as an IT - Data Fabric Technical Specialist and be responsible for managing information technology projects.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Developing methods to monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts.

Providing advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes to the Coast Guard Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipeline.

Providing recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades to the Coast Guard Enterprise Data Fabric.

Leading and advising on projects to manage Coast Guard data and process that data to gain further insights to inform decision making.

Providing architecture recommendations for on-boarding new data sources into the Coast Guard Data Fabric and develop improvements to the platform.

Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A.

Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position. B.

Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-11) or management determined equivalent within twoyears of entry into the position.
