Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-12 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as the Subject Matter Expert for hardware, software, storage and backups ran and created on UNIX systems; including experience with Continuity of Operations (COOP) as it relates to UNIX systems.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • Manages the cloud computing architecture for DFAS which includes the front-end platforms, servers, storage, databases, software, delivery, networks required to manage cloud storage.
  • Conducts complex research and continuous validation of rapidly-evolving cloud technologies to develop enterprise-wide strategies, techniques and procedures for all DFAS cloud-based application.
  • Plans, organizes, and determine scope and depth of system(s) and controls which are largely undefined.
  • Provides expert input in the development of contract language to ensure system, network, and operational security requirements are met.
