Full Job Description

There may be times when you will be required to work extended hours and/or weekends to implement changes, troubleshoot issues, or complete project tasks. You will be required to have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive to locations within the coverage area.



The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is looking for a entry level developer (0-3 years experience) who is eager to learn and grow into a full stack developer.

This position is time-limited for three years.

The chosen candidate must have a great attitude, be driven, self-motivated, customer-service oriented, responsible, organized, and a tenacious problem solver.

The chosen candidate will be part of a development team working on serving the business application needs of the Utah State Developmental Center.


This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office (2 days a week required in office and any mandatory in office meetings) and remote work days (work must be performed in Utah).

Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

The office is located at the Utah State Developmental Center, 895 N 900 E, American Fork, Utah.

Requirements

  • Develop backend and front end services used by USDC

  • Follow established standards

  • Write unit and integration tests

  • Participate in code reviews

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues

  • Team collaboration

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of object-oriented programming principles (e.g., some experience with .NET, Java, etc.)

  • Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and a strong desire to grow as a developer

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (Angular or Vue.js)

  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts (AWS)

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

  • Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)

  • Employment is contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
