Conduct initial review of investment prospects and assess deal fit against Fund’s investment criteria.
Participate in deal sourcing and networking events to analyze specific investment opportunities.
Research markets, industries, and economic trends to develop investment reports on specific industry opportunities and trends.
Prepare and present investment opportunities to the Board of Directors.
Perform financial and valuation analysis, as well as technology and competitor reviews.
Conduct customer and management reference calls and visits.
With oversight from WVJIT staff, support risk mitigation and compliance functions for Fund transactions.
Evaluate portfolio companies’ financial conditions, estimate future financing requirements, and track cash flow sources and uses.
Serve as a Board Director for some portfolio companies, as needed.
Support the Investment Manager and Portfolio Manager in all pipeline, deal sourcing, and investment activities.
Support the Investment Manager in all administration activities of the SSBCI/WVCAP program.
Skills and abilities:
Technical skills such as financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, market analysis.
Familiarity with venture capital deal structures and investment terms.
Ability to review and interpret key legal documents such as term sheets, SAFEs, convertible notes, stock purchases, incorporation documents, etc.
Knowledge of Google and Microsoft suites.
Ability to quickly learn and adopt new software and technologies.
Ability to self-manage a variety of ongoing projects with varying deadlines.
Ability to draft professional correspondence, communicate effectively with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
