Summary

This position is in the Office of Inspector General/Fraud and Inspections Unit at the SCDMV Headquarters, Blythewood, SC.

Responsibilities of the Temp Fraud Inspector

  • Assist investigators with research related to motor vehicle document applications, identity theft, vehicle theft, and other irregularities within SCDMV records and systems
  • Assist investigators with case reports and ensuring that findings, investigations, and actions are documented.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders including SCDMV staff, law enforcement, and other government agencies.
  • Analyze reporting of operational activities to identify potential indicators of fraud or vulnerabilities.
  • Act as a liaison between law enforcement, SCDMV customers, and SCDMV offices.
  • Participate in continuous learning opportunities to enhance skills relevant to SCDMV fraud detection and prevention, general business acumen, and ways of working.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma and experience conducting investigations or performing other law enforcement duties. A bachelor's degree may substitute for the required work experience

Agency Requirements

  • A nationwide criminal background check to include fingerprints must be completed prior to assuming the duties of this position.
  • Employee must have and maintain a valid SC driver's license.

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred knowledge: laws, rules, regulations, standards, principles, practices and techniques related to drivers licensing.
  • Must have the ability to examine information from multiple sources, analyze facts, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Must be able to present clear, concise and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Must be proficient with personal computers including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Employee receives guidance from manager/supervisors but generally works independently and has the latitude for independent decision making.
  • Employee must operate within the guidelines of SCDMV and State policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Employee will work in the Blythewood headquarters.
  • Normal work hours are M-F 8:30am-5:00pm, may require occasional work outside normal work hours.
  • This is a temporary position.

Qualifications

Agency Preferred

  • A high school diploma and two (2) years work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
