Summary

This job involves supporting drug enforcement investigations by organizing case files, searching for information, analyzing data, and preparing reports to help agents track illegal activities.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Diversion Control Division within St. Louis Division.

This position(s) primary purpose is to perform a variety of technical work as it relates to law enforcement cases being investigated by Diversion Investigators or Special Agents and to support the collection, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of criminal or non-criminal investigative data.

Applicants applying for the GS-06 must meet the following requirements: A.

Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-05 grade level.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Assisting with conducting complex and unique law enforcement searches and queries; 2) Assisting with gathering and analyzing data; 3) Preparing various reports related to investigations; 4) Making recommendations based on findings; and 5) Identifying inaccuracies or anomalies in the information gathered.

As a Investigative Assistant, your typical work assignments may include: Establishes case files and ensures pertinent case information is provided to investigative personnel and advises supervisors of management actions necessary to ensure timely and thorough investigations.

Performs unique queries of considerable difficulty using specialized skills related to law enforcement or compliance.

Prepares correspondence of complex information or instruction provided by the supervisor.

Integrates several types of software, such as spreadsheet, database, word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics applications, to generate specific working documents and forms.

Maintains and timely updates unit reference library and forms stock, to include requisition of required or revised publications and forms.
