Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading and coordinating youth outreach programs focused on archery and shooting sports across South Carolina schools and clubs, including supervising events, managing budgets, and delivering safety presentations.

Full Job Description

This officer will be tasked with supervising all Outreach Programs within the Law Enforcement Education Section.

Job Duties Include:
  • Supervising, supporting and assisting in the coordination of the National Archery in the Schools Program in South Carolina.
  • Conducting safety and/or ethics presentations and talking to civic and youth groups as needed or requested to promote the Archery in the Schools Program.
  • Supervising, supporting and assisting in the coordination of youth clay target events across the state to include skeet, trap, and sporting clays.
  • Assisting and enabling schools and other clubs such as 4H to participate in clay target shooting sports.
  • Supervising, supporting and assisting the Take One Make One Regional Coordinators to ensure that program goals are developed and followed to ensure program success across the state.
  • Monitoring project accomplishments by maintaining records, preparing budgets, correspondence and preparing monthly and annual reports for all outreach programs.
  • Preparing and completing purchase requests to support all programs.
  • Developing and monitoring an annual budget to support all programs under supervision.
  • Maintaining accurate records of annual accomplishments for all programs including annual expenditures.
  • Maintaining all department issued equipment.

Requirements

A high school diploma and four (4) years experience as a DNR Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer.

Qualifications

Experience with the Take One Make One Program (TOMO), National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), and the SC Youth Shooting Foundation. NASP Basic Archery Instructor Certification; NSCA Level 1 Certification. Ability to work with teachers and volunteers in elementary, middle and high schools throughout the state. Good communication skills as well as organizational skills. Ability to handle firearms in a safe and responsible manner, ability to instruct safe use of archery equipment including range setup, and have the capability of utilizing a variety of audio visual and other instructional equipment used to conduct presentations.
