Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a scientist or engineer to guide the safe testing, classification, handling, transportation, and storage of explosives, ammunition, and related materials for the U.S. Navy.
You'll provide expert advice to military units, contractors, and others to ensure everything follows safety rules and standards.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 Equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer or scientist providing guidance or expertise in the testing, hazard classification, handling, transportation, or storage of energetic materials, explosives, ordnances, or ammunitions to ensure compliance with established safety policies or standards for an organization.
