Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading projects to integrate advanced 3D printing technologies into naval systems, managing everything from initial ideas to delivering ready-to-use parts that help keep the U.S.

Navy's fleet operational. As a senior engineer, you'll plan and execute these efforts while creating guidelines for broader use across the Navy.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 or GS-12 level in engineering, focusing on additive manufacturing for naval or similar systems

  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of high-risk projects, from concept to fleet delivery

You will serve as a MATERIALS ENGIINER, MECHANICAL ENGINEER, or INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER in the RAPID PROTOTYPING/FABRICATION TECHNOLOGY DIV within the UNDERSEA SYSTEMS & SUSTAINMENT ENGINEERING DEPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer managing the design or evaluation of additive manufacturing technologies for the development and sustainment of naval systems and components.

  • You will serve as an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer and senior project manager, responsible for driving the integration of advanced manufacturing solutions for the U.S. West Coast.
  • You will independently lead the planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact AM solutions that directly enhance fleet readiness and modernize the industrial base.
  • You will direct the full lifecycle of complex, high-risk AM projects, from initial concept to the delivery of qualified components to the fleet.
  • You will develop and validate component-specific technical requirements and contribute to the formulation of NAVSEA-wide AM technology roadmaps and policy.
  • You will be responsible for translating complex project data and technical findings into clear, concise, and impactful communications for a wide spectrum of audiences.
