Summary

This job involves gathering and analyzing intelligence from various sources to help secure U.S. borders by identifying threats and supporting operations for Customs and Border Protection.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations, Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC), Riverside, California.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Integrating data and information from all relevant sources to analyze situations or conditions that affect CBP operations.

Identifying and evaluating the adversarial capabilities, composition, and disposition of all border security threats.

Compiling, collating, extrapolating, and exploiting information from both classified and unclassified sources, using new and creative methodology for unusual problems.

Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational, or tactical operations.

Ensuring all intelligence analysis processes and products align with all CBP-relevant legal authorities, policies and guidelines; and complies with accepted standards, including those established by the CBP IE Key Intelligence Official (KIO).

Background Investigation: U.S.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) safeguards our Nation by anticipating and confronting security threats through our aviation and maritime law enforcement expertise, innovative capabilities, and partnerships at the border and beyond.

As an Intelligence Research Specialist, you will provide AMOC's customers with intelligence products that inform and enhance law enforcement's ability to make strategic, operational and tactical decisions in the general aviation and non-commercial maritime environments at, within, and beyond the U.S.

border. This position starts at a salary of $124,085.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $161,313.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

Typical work responsibilities include but are not limited to: Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information from multiple or specific sources to provide intelligence products and reports in support of strategic, operational, or tactical operations.

Providing analytic direction and project-monitoring services specified in geographical and functional areas.

Using established intelligence techniques to analyze data from a variety of sources to develop targets, trends, patterns, profiles, estimates, and studies in support of CBP operational and mission success.

Producing finished analyses, reports and briefings. Evaluating, reviewing, and validating intelligence reports, plans, guides, and/or manuals.

Representing the organization in working groups or committees internal and external to the agency, initiating and maintaining useful contact with counterparts and colleagues.
