Full Job Description

This position is in the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security, Office of the Director for Defense Intelligence (Warfighter Support).

The USW(I&S) is the principal staff assistant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of War for all intelligence, counterintelligence (CI) and security, and other intelligence-related matters.

The incumbent will work in the Office of Under Secretary of War for Intelligence and Security Global Operations and Integration Directorate.

The DCIPS occupational structure provides the foundation for managing the DCIPS pay structure.

It consists of the following elements: mission categories, occupational groups, and work categories, work levels, pay band (for those DCIPS Components operating under the DCIPS pay banded structure using pay plan IA) and grades (for those DCIPS Components operating under the GG graded structure using pay plan GG), job titles, and competencies.

You may qualify at the GG/GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Conducting analyses which are of national and/or international interest; 2) Developing policy of defense analysis; 3) Implementing strategic direction, such as the National Security Strategy or National Defense Strategy; and 4) Integrating all-source analysis such as Signal intelligence, Measurement and Signatures intelligence and Geospatial intelligence..

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This Position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C.

1601 If selected, Federal employees currently serving in the competitive service must acknowledge that they will voluntarily leave the competitive service by accepting an offer of employment for a DCIPS excepted service positions.

If selected, non-DCIPS candidates must acknowledge that the position they have been selected for is in the excepted service and covered by DCIPS.

For more information see https://dcips.defense.gov/ Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Advises and assists the Director and Deputy Director for Global Operations & Integration (GOI) on all matters pertaining to intelligence policy, guidance, oversight, and resource advocacy Manages the Space Intelligence Community of Interest (COI), addressing policy, guidance, and strategic planning for intelligence support to military Space operations.

Prepares, edits, and performs quality control over senior-level correspondence, position papers, briefings, meeting read-aheads and talking points, trip books, and white papers on intelligence support to Space operations.

Implements related initiatives in support of DoW partnerships.

Executes responsibilities for the STO Program and enables, prioritizes, and synchronizes OUSW(I&S) and WISE support to STO-related DoW National War Strategy and national-level intelligence and security policy development and implementation for global and/or non-regional matters.
