Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves gathering intelligence from various sources, mentoring junior staff on how to collect and report information effectively, and creating reports on potential threats to homeland security.
It supports the Department of Homeland Security's efforts to analyze and share critical data with leaders.
A good fit would be someone with experience in intelligence operations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with teams in a fast-paced government environment.
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Field Intelligence Directorate (FID).
The primary purpose of this position is to supports regional collection and reporting and mentoring of field staff on collection and debriefing tradecraft.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess the specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: Providing guidance to junior analysts on gathering and dissemination techniques to ensure successful collection of raw intelligence data.
Identifying new techniques to collect and analyze raw information to identify potential threats. Developing and presenting reports or briefings on intelligence data to senior leadership.
For this position, specialized experience must include skill in applying intelligence research, collection methods, dissemination applications and methodologies, the evaluation of human sources of information, and utilization of multiple intelligence information systems in order to produce and disseminate raw intelligence.
It includes conducting human collection operations and a variety of collection activities in support of homeland security.
Such experience could be gained from previous collection operations and reporting experience with Intelligence Community or military organizations.

Major Duties:
As a Intelligence Operations Specialist, GS-0132-13, your typical work assignments may include: Serves as an advisor and consultant in the dissemination of multi-source intelligence and subject matter expert for intelligence collection and operations.
The incumbent applies knowledge of intelligence information acquisition and research, and methodologies used to extract information of intelligence value from human sources.
Plans and conducts collection efforts from identifying the information needed to delivering raw intelligence to the consumer.
The incumbent ensures collection operations are aligned with organizational priorities identified in the Operating Directive.
The incumbent evaluates intelligence information to determine potential reporting opportunities.
Produces raw intelligence information reports that balance the needs of protecting sources and the integrity of the information, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and Departmental regulations.
Establishes and maintains direct liaison activities and staff coordination channels with departmental and national intelligence organizations and the military services.
The incumbent apprises consumers of new developments and related background information associated with collection tasking.
