This job involves leading teams to build and manage data systems that help the Department of Defense deliver advanced military technologies smoothly across different units.
It combines data science with software engineering to create scalable tech solutions for big projects.
A good fit would be someone with strong IT leadership experience, technical skills in programming and cloud tools, and the ability to explain complex ideas to high-level decision-makers.
This position is with the Acquisition Integration and Interoperability Office, established to build an enduring acquisition infrastructure for seamlessly delivering joint, system-of-systems capabilities.
This role sits at the intersection of data science and software engineering and the incumbent will lead the technical execution of data engineering projects, responsible for building, scaling, and deploying the foundational data systems required to support joint capability delivery.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

and Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
You may qualify at the NH-04 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-03 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector.
Specialized experience is defined as: experience managing a team of IT specialists, presenting data to senior executives, utilizing programming languages and cloud computing platforms to complete organizational projects.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

For entry at the NH-IV level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a NH-III or higher grade in the Federal Service. Major Duties:
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Executes and delivers multiple concurrent data engineering projects, focusing on technical implementation, code quality, and performance Builds, scales, and optimizes data pipelines, platforms, and infrastructure using approved tools and frameworks.
Develops and reports on data pipeline performance, data quality metrics, and system health to technical teams and direct management.
Serves as the technical lead on high-impact projects, responsible for the hands-on development and deployment of data solutions for complex datasets.
Mentors and provides technical guidance to other data specialists to ensure the development of secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions that adhere to the established data architecture.
